An Architecture of Suns

INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIA.

A multidisciplinary discussion with an untitled art object and our terrestrial and celestial Suns.

This is an extraordinary moment in human history. Humanity has sent probes to orbit our Sun as thirty-five countries construct a sun on Earth. The material of our art, solar probes, and terrestrial sun are forged from ancient suns. This conversation marks this extraordinary moment in the arc of humanity and the multidisciplinary sculpting tools in and of our hands today and tomorrow.

Upcoming Event.

This event is continuation of Corday’s San Titre [Untitled Art Object] project with ITER and expands the conversations with individuals in the creation of NASA and ESA solar probes. and research of our Sun.

This program continues the exhibition of 17th Venice Architecture Biennale by the European Culture Centre.

“We are the era of humanity in reach of our Sun as we build one together on Earth.”

- Christine Corday

Prometheus ignited fire from the gods within a hollow stalk of fennel to give to humankind. That spark of knowledge, its sheltering of light and energy passes from myth to material moment from Sun to Earth––as today––thirty-five countries join together to harness the power of the Sun by building one on Earth.

A toroidal stalk of material science called ITER, the 444 acre site in Saint-Paul-lès-Durance, France, dedicates the advance and sustaining pulse of burning plasma to gift humankind a utility-scale proof of a shared, peaceful, abundant, and clean energy source for lifetimes. Nuclear fusion is the core energy of our Sun and all suns in the universe. The notion of building suns is monumentally immense on Earth [the largest single work of science ever mounted by humanity] and yet the building of suns, their birth and death, proliferates within colossal time and material scales through-out the universe.

Suns not only forge the material elements that make up all the matter we see, the matter of us––Suns forge other suns. Our celestial Sun sources from ancient and nameless stars. Our terrestri-al sun sources from spent star matter that compose the material and generations of unnamed persons advancing this promethean fire.

To understand the very big mysteries of these energy-giving dynamos, we must understand the very small, because it is here we share equally, humbly, exquisitely-our terrestrial and celestial sun and all objects--this universe as sculptor medium of atomic clay. This poetically-termed atomic medium is heating and cooling, pulling and collapsing, spun and scattered––a shared dialogue in shared architectures, magnetic structures, invisible and visible interrelating components and systems. Panelists will discuss the study, the build of S/suns and the curious material phase of suns continued through the untitled art object . This symposium marks a conversation with the witnessing and participating generation realizing our terrestrial sun, a generation closest-visible reach of our celestial Sun, and a new material insights as continued phases of this ‘universe as sculptor’ medium.
